ART, GARDENING AND LIFE

The trio have so much in common.

Art springs up from a deep seeded place inside of us. Sometimes its a surprise how beautiful it can be. Sometimes it hurts your heart with the many unexpected turn it can take on a dime. And it is up to us on how we handle those shifts. our outlook says a lot about us and s my art work speaks volumes if I let it. There is no room in my life for what i think others feel or think about my work. It just is. And boy i wish I knew that in life MANY years ago...Don't we all?

As I get my gardens in order this spring. I revisit them , when i planted them, how they have thrived and I also mourn the things that died after the impact the  last  two winters had on them. They were tiny little when I planted them! They got so big and adorned the walkway I walk up and down every day. They are now gone and new little plants fill their big space. These little guys are patient and know that one day they will grow and flourish and take up that space again.

Isn't that a lot like life? The people we love in it.? Here for years and in one moment, spell or human error they are poof, gone..You mourn, you wail, you ponder the whys. What could have been done differently and oh how those lessons make us full of wisdom. Yet, I still cannot turn around and do a "do over". Remember them? Do overs, when you played games as little kids and there was someone in the group compassionate enough to give someone else a do over! Yah! Onc in a while God gives us a do over, not in the way we ever expected but there non the less1 he says , life life and CARRY ON! The seasons give our gardens and nature "do overs". They maybe the same with maturity as the prize or they may be different with "weeding" out the small and weak. Wow, how much gardening , art and life are similar!

As an artist I get to "do overs" all the time. Most of the time with a totally different outcome than expected! Even better, sometimes worse!

Oh Boy!

Relationships are similar but i perceive it to be harder to do "do overs". Both parties must be ALL in and I find it changes them and their relationship . No matter how hard you try and want, the outcome is sometimes not what we imagined or wanted!

So all this gardening got me pondering away, don't you think?

I attended my art opening reception this weekend and saw a few friends in the gathering. Feels good to put the harvest from my inner garden out there for all to see! Be well an CREATE ON!
