One Day At A Time
My mama gave me the best advice ever. She always asks me what's new and when I tell her she always says "one day at a time."
Especially now that things have been so out of the norm I have been chanting this sentence almost every day! As a creator of paintings and writings its has been challenging to focus and create as this pandemic and protests go on and on.
Ive been blessed to have had pockets of time to create as I work on business while away from it due to the corona virus. Who would have thought it would go this long with no work, no socializing in person and all the while wearing masks and standing 6 feet apart? "One day at a time , remember?"
Today June 15th we are getting closer to salons opening and some already have , done so under the radar. As we gear up I take time to reflect on what this time has meant for me. I truly love doing hair, as I get to "color" hair all day. Being able to paint, write , garden and talking to family and friends on phone, face time or zoom has giving us the ability to connect because we've had more time. Relationships with those I love and their wellness is what's been most important.
During these months , everyday living has happened, among some sad news of cancer, chemo/chemo drugs, regular car and fatal car accidents, people closing their business , people taking a different career path, people finding each other and people leaving each other.
Among all this I've seen kids graduate and riding around honking and waving in car parades. I've seen new grand babies born to friends and few babies that will be coming into this world soon. What will we teach them about this planet? What's most important than love for each other?
The art, music, movies and writings created during this time, whether it relates to the virus or not that has been waves of inspiring creative ideas from how to run a safe business, new garden, redecorating to a painting I saw of a man and woman up close, foreheads touching ,wearing masks as tears escape from their eyes. The the pain, the loss and the love all evident in their embrace. Truly heartfelt and conveyed to me that even in the toughest times getting up, rebuilding our lives can only be done together in love.
Above is one of my newest art piece during this pandemic. It's time for me to paint the love and all else that flows through me. Time to take it one day at a time. Grateful for the time and all those I love.
