Art Thru Gardening

Art Thru Gardening

Well it has been a most interesting and busy gardening season. So hot I have to water the veggie garden , container flowers and annuals twice a day! Along with picking the veggies and keeping everything cut back and bug free without spraying chemicals! Most challenging to say the least.

My favorite part about gardening is the "composition" I choose to arrange plants in. This year I have stream lined some plants along the walk way and have gotten rid of old , winter worn shrubs! Along with the final "stroke" of mulch to unify all of the gardens into a symphony of plants flowering, showing off their color and fascinating shapes! Love it!

Gardening inspires my sense of creativity. I have a "finished piece" in the middle of the summer. My most favorite time because I get to stand back and take it all in. One of the most important lessons in creating is the moment you take to appreciate. The number one lesson being is to enjoy the journey, each step being part of the process that creates the whole. Then that action and piece may be the  stepping stone to your next creation!

I started a painting this month of July and worked on it this morning. I'm loving taking my time. Spending less time than usual on a painting session because of the time of year let's me take my time and think of what I'd like to do next on the painting. It makes each stroke a deliberate move. I am interested to see what my next move is going to be. I may get my inspiration by " being" in the garden or while standing there looking at the painting or others art work. However that inspiration comes, I have to STOP what I am doing and go right to painting. Love that. It is so organic yet like organized chaos!

Keep creating, whether by your choice of medium or thru some other projects you do! Don't ever stop! If you are stuck, paint with your non dominant hand on scrap material till you feel yourself loosening up. Give yourself permission to be child like and free with it! Happy Painting! ~ Mary Luz~
