Getting Back Into The Studio
After such a busy holiday season , both at work and at home with family and friends , most of us want to get back into a regular routine . The extra things on the to do list sure adds to the stress of it all, even though some of the to dolist should be good, it still adds to our days making them long.
So i have been dreaming of creating, painting and the whole creative process. The getting pregnant with thought and ideas to paint is the first stage of the process. Sitting here writing about creating is pretty amazing . Creativity is a subject near and dear to my heart. I love writing, talking and expressing it to others. It is as important to me as my art and writings.
Then comes the second stage or the “incubation” period. This stage is vital for an artist! Some of us don’t even know we are doing this but we all do. This is where we let our ideas spin out in many directions and then see which image keeps presenting itself, starts taking form and how we are going to start or execute it.
It’s really hard to explain a creative movement . As the artist we just have a knowing of what must be done. Sometimes we are ok with this second stage and other times we want to rip it off like a bandaid and start the third process, “giving birth” to our vision.
This is the cycle of the creative process , setting up the studio and starting to create, draw, paint out from the thoughts, dreams and the visions we’ve had during the “incubation” period. At times it’s a fast and furious session and other times a slow , painful methodical march.
So, finally after holiday rush, colds and getting better, I return to the studio ready to see what comes up and out onto my paper or canvas. I hope you’re ready too! Here’s to the creative process!
