Art Show Reception Was A Success! 9/16/2015

It was a beautiful, warm night for an art show reception. I arrived with plenty of time to spare before people started arriving.
I met some really passionate, talented and working artist. Artist who are lucky enough to work in the art field. Feeling lucky that I am able to paint and mix colors for hair during the day and on canvas during the night! One day It will be on the canvas and pen on paper on a more full day form.
So we talked art and it's bases of painting your "voice" as an artist. Great to be in the energy of like minded artist, yet our voices look so different on the canvas. I feel that is how art should be. You can get academically trained for art and then there is the organically produce art. It is flowy, raw, imperfect , mysterious, lets your mind tell a story or feel a feeling from it!as the viewer. Now this is the way I love to paint! Traditional training before or after is great and all good especially to learn the fundamentals. Yet painting from your soul, from deep down is where the true love for my craft is expressed from. My art speaks in color way before it "settles' into a painting. Every once in a while there is a soft, quite flow to it, but most of the time it speaks in high def ( HD)! Love that!
I am always in awe of all the creative abilities of us humans. I can tell you for me , time stands still as I delve into the world of painting or writing. I lose track of this thing we call time and guess what? It feels great, I feel alive and that experience carries over into much of my life.
Many friends, some family and people i didn't know came in to see the art of 9 artist that night. They walked away with with the stories they told themselves as they viewed it and the artist"story" , which in turn leads them to ask how , why , how long did it take. The mystery and awe of painting is beyond their world and scope or so they think. I think anyone can create. So many different ways we can do that! That's the overwhelming part. What should I try, what should I paint ?! Pick one and stick with it for a while. Then move on to several others an you will "find" your medium and your "voice". Thanks to all who attending and purchased a piece. Greatly appreciated and i am grateful to do the art I love! ~Be well, tell your story and Carry on being creative!~ Mary Luz
